My name is Joe Ryder. I go by RepeaterSignal - less a band name and more of the title of my current music project. I'm a hobbyist musician and audio engineer. I've been around music my entire life, growing up with family that had a recording studio. I had been playing, recording, and supporting music for over 30 years when I decided it was my turn to publish what I write. Prove that I can do what I advocate others to do. And, of course, I do it when AI is begging to take over the industry for this art form.

I'm a multimedia artist turned mentor and armchair philosopher. ADHD is my superpower and captor. And yet, I make amazing audio experiences when I give it enough time. I don't like to just produce for the sake of producing. The utilitarian in me will not release music without it meaning something.

Artist Statement: AI in Music

RepeaterSignal does not use AI to generate any major component of music recordings. As the music industry and tools evolve, and have evolved since 2020, there will be near-unavoidable, minor AI-derived components of my music. The industry now cannot avoid it. However, they are limited to derivative components like synth instruments, artificial voice synthesis, and sound effects. RepeaterSignal denounces the use of song and stem generators, songwriting models, and generative audio arrangers that collect, interpret, and exploit human works of art without compensation for the sake of cheap commercial gain. There is no legitimate future for AI as a replacement for artisans in a free, sustainable human society.
